Milestones in Our Mission
Join us as we reflect on the pivotal moments that have shaped our efforts in providing menstrual health solutions and education to girls in Zimbabwe.
September 2020
Legal Recognition Achieved
After 18 months of dedicated work, we achieved a major milestone: official registration as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC), along with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status from the Australian Tax Office.
This recognition allows our donors to claim tax deductions for their contributions and ensures that we are held to the high standards of transparency, governance, and accountability required by the ACNC.
April 2021
First Menstrual Packs Delivered
Following a generous $3,000 AID contribution from the Shona Sisterhood, the Mothers Support Group, along with Imire Rhino and Wildlife Conservation staff and volunteers, distributed essential packs to the girls at Numwa Secondary School.
This marked the culmination of two years of dedicated work and community support, aimed at ensuring these girls can attend school without interruption.
April 2021
New Equipment Delivered
The Mothers Support Group has recently purchased a new overlocker for their workspace. This valuable addition allows the team to meet the growing demand for their products more efficiently and ensures faster distribution to where they are most needed.
September 2021
Numwa School Distribution
The Mothers Support Group, together with Imire staff and volunteers, distributed approximately 80 hygiene packs to Grade 7 girls at Numwa School and Chizungu School. The women from the Mothers Support Group took the time to demonstrate how to use the products and ensured that every girl received a pack. After a second lockdown, the support was especially meaningful—helping ease the transition back to school by removing one more barrier to regular attendance and peace of mind.
October 2021
Expanding Our Reach
The Mothers Support Group, in collaboration with Imire volunteers, successfully distributed over 300 hygiene packs to girls at Wedza High School—many of whom were receiving these essential products for the very first time.
March 2022
Donation for Overlockers, Gravity Irons & Packs of Joy
In March 2022, the Shona Sisterhood generously contributed $5,000 AUD (approximately $3,561 USD) to support and scale the work of the Mothers Support Group. This funding enabled:
-
The purchase of an additional overlocker, building on the success of the first machine—which had already doubled production capacity;
-
The acquisition of a gravity bottle iron, helping to improve the finish and durability of the products; and
-
The manufacture of 463 new Packs of Joy, providing essential items to support girls’ education and well-being.
This donation continues to have a significant impact on both production efficiency and the number of girls reached with vital support.
